*Hypothesis

We predicted that by using a 34 degree angle and the basic bulid of a 1800 cannon that it would shoot farther and with more speed.

The Charge Of the Light Brigade

I think that this poem is about a fleet of troops who put them selves in harms way by charging in an alley were they know that they are going to die. I say that they know that they are going to die here because they refer to this alley as the alley of death and is repeated many times. I think they decide to do this because it is there only sign of hope. Now once they get in the alley they are ambushed by canons by almost all sides and are being quickly killed.

English Portion!

In today’s world almost every where you go there is an authoritarian figure telling you in some way shape or form what to do. For example in your home it could be your parents or even. While driving it may be the police men and even though you know your going the speed limit you still slow down in fear. At school it maybe the teachers and you never want to do the work but you know that it would be better if you did so you go ahead and do it anyways. Today’s public has almost no discipline or regards for action and this is why I do think it is necessary for not just military commanders but for almost all high power work forces to have strict policies. The reason why I say this is because in the military you are trained to survive and kill and if the soldiers were to just go out and start doing what ever they wanted there would be no stopping them. Now if for some reason the commander didn’t use harsh discipline his or her troops could rebel at any time and the last thing we want is killing machines rebelling. One of the greatest ways to work is as a team because when you work as a team you know that some one will always have your back. Team work in the military is probably the most resource full thing they have. With that they will be able to overcome any obstacle.

Overture of 1812

This song starts off very slow and sad like but as it progresses it gets louder and more intense. My favorite part of the song is at the very end of the song when all of the cannons are going off to symbolize the victory of the battle. This song is very epic as it will start weak get strong and then just get weak again.

The Chemistry Portion!

The Chemical Formula:

We expected our cannon to fire about 10 feet. But when we really launched the cannon it didnt fire at all. If we could do this again we would still try the internal combstion but try to make the cannon more air tight. In the end none of the cannons fired. We think that this happend either because of the temperature or the ethonol was bad.

1900 Cannon's

1900 Cannon's-
By the early 20th century, infantry weapons became more powerful and accurate. Cannon proved highly effective during World War I, causing over 75% of casualties. World War I also marked the use of the Paris Gun, the longest-ranged gun ever fired. The Second World War sparked new developments in cannon technology. Among them were sabot rounds, hollow-charge projectiles, and proximity fuses. They became known as the American artillery's "Christmas present" for the German army, and were employed primarily in the Battle of the Bulge. After the invention of the Paris gun that was basically the basis for the artillery in every war afterwards. There was also still the use of hotwitzers and mortars just not as frequently.

1800 Cannons

1800 Cannons-
In the 18th century, India became a large exporter of nitrates, a trade controlled by the English and the Dutch, and European production ceased, since the Indian saltpetre was much cheaper. Nitrates are now obtained by oxidizing ammonia, which is synthesized directly from atmospheric nitrogen by the Haber process. A chemical equation for the reaction occurring when gunpowder explodes is 2KNO3 + S + 3C = K2S + N2 + 3CO2, but in actuality the reaction is much more complicated.
The propellent gunpowder was the essential requisite for using a cannon, and it is not something that is easily made, nor found by accident. When gunpowder explodes, it increases in volume about 4000 times at normal pressure, so the effect is to produce a highly compressed gas behind the cannonball in a very short time. The products are 40% gaseous, and 60% solid.
Cannon's in the 1800s were mostly used in the many wars fought in Great Britian but they became a big hit on the pirate ships that were supposedly "prowling" the Indian Seas during this time.
